Wild Canadian Chaga, harvested, processed and packaged in Canada..

Preparation instructions (2 Methods):

Quick Method (30 minutes, makes 1 cup)

Items needed:

  1. 1 kettle or pot
  2. 1 cup or teapot
  3. 2.5 grams of chaga (about 1/2 heaping teaspoon)
  4. ~250ml of water (about 1 cup)

Instructions:

  1. Measure Ingredients: Measure out 2.5 grams of chaga, and 250mL (1 cups) of water.
  2. Boil Water: Bring a kettle or a pot of water to a boil.
  3. Add Chaga: Add your 2.5g of chaga (about 1/2 heaping teaspoon) to your cup or teapot.
  4. Combine: Carefully pour 250ml (about 1 cup) of the boiling water over the chaga.
  5. Steep: Let the chaga steep in the hot water for 20 minutes; this allows enough time for the tea to extract the flavors and beneficial compounds from the chaga.
  6. Enjoy: After steeping, your chaga tea is ready to drink. You can strain out the chaga pieces if desired, or leave them in to intensify the flavor.

Long Method (6-8 hours, makes 3 cups)

Items needed:

  1. Pot with a lid
  2. 7 grams ground chaga
  3. 700ml of water (about 3 cups)

Optional items

  1. Food/Candy Thermometer

Instructions:

  1. Measure Ingredients: Measure out 7 grams of chaga, and 700 mL (3 cups) of water.
  2. Combine: Pour the water and chaga into your pot and begin stirring until the chaga is evenly mixed in with the water.
  3. Setting the Stove: Position the pot on the stove and adjust the burner to a low setting and partially cover the pot with the lid.
  4. Monitoring Temperature: The goal is to steep the chaga at a water temperature below 80°C (176°F). The low heat setting with a partially covered pot typically maintains this temperature, but a thermometer is recommended for precise control. (If a thermometer is available) use a thermometer to check the water temperature after 20 minutes. Continue monitoring periodically until the temperature stabilizes.
  5. Steeping Time: Let the chaga steep in the water for 6-8 hours. This duration is crucial to effectively extract the beneficial compounds from the chaga.
  6. Enjoy: After steeping, your chaga tea is ready to drink. You can strain out the chaga pieces if desired, or leave them in to intensify the flavor.
  7. Storage: Once steeped, transfer the chaga tea to a container and refrigerate.
